About
The birth of Gothic Goddess Media actually took place at a bar called Fontana’s in lower Manattan @ an after party for the Jonathan Levine Gallery opening Of David Choe’s “Gardeners Of Eden” show this past January. I met someone at the opening and subsequently shared a cab with him to the bar where we began to talk about life in general and then about the GODDESS specifically. He was a sufi so the GODDESS was an important topic of conversation for him. Bottom line…he told me that he thought that I was transforming into a Gothic Goddess. The result of that transformation would be that when I would beckon people to come my way, they would eagerly follow (ergo come…and follow me). We spoke at length about this and I just stared at him musingly.
Time passed with many photo shoots under my belt as well as much experience, but I felt that I was not approaching my destination as an artist in a satisfying way. So I decided that a web zine would achieve that satisfaction as well as a most interesting, educational (as well as educating) journey. I also felt that there weren’t many web zines out there that truly dug deep into the history, development, and heart of Gothic and Industrial Culture. I found most of them to be too constricting, self serving (not that there’s anything wrong with that!)and narrow in scope. So took place the birth of Gothic Goddess Media web zine. And the name Gothic Goddess just seemed to fit perfectly. Thank you BG!
